Putin urges government to drive Russia-made cars to boost quality

MOSCOW, Aug 3 (PRIME) -- Russian state officials must drive locally-made cars, because this will improve the quality pf the product, President Vladimir Putin said Thursday.

"Some ministries, agencies, the administration asked to continue purchases focused on, in fact, foreign cars… To continue this practice. I said that this must be absolutely ruled out. All state officials in the country must drive Russia-made cars," Putin said.

He said that the country should not reject all imports, but the approach to the purchases of basic goods must be focused on local manufacturers.

Putin also said that a decision to index the car recycling fee was the result of a discussion.
